A ticket price rarely tells you what the whole day will cost. Return travel, booking fees, food, drinks and a late journey home can turn an affordable-looking event into an expensive outing. This calculator brings those costs together before anyone books.
It works for theatre trips, concerts, exhibitions, birthday plans, festivals, sporting events and group days out in London. You can use it for one person, a couple or a larger group. Enter individual costs once and the calculator multiplies them by the group size. Add venue hire, a taxi, decorations or other shared expenses separately so they are only counted once.
How to split the cost of a group event
Start with costs that apply to each guest, such as tickets and meals. Multiply that amount by the number attending, then add costs shared by everyone. The calculator divides the finished total equally and shows the estimated amount per person.
An equal split is a useful starting point, but it may not suit every group. Someone who is not drinking, uses different transport or has already paid for a ticket may owe a different amount. Share the estimate first, then agree any individual adjustments before collecting money.
What should an event budget include?
- The final ticket price and compulsory booking or transaction fees
- Outbound and return travel for each person
- Food, drinks and anything bought at the venue
- Shared taxis, venue hire, decorations or supplies
- A small contingency for price changes or forgotten costs

How to make the estimate useful
- Use the final checkout price for tickets, including compulsory booking fees.
- Count return travel and any late-night journey home.
- Agree whether shared costs will be split equally before someone pays.
- Add a small contingency if prices or plans are not confirmed.
