Find free drinking water and bottle refill points in London

Use this finder to search community-mapped drinking fountains and public bottle refill points around London. You can filter for locations marked as suitable for bottles, outdoors or wheelchair accessible, then allow location access to sort the results by distance.

Carrying a reusable bottle can reduce the cost of a day out and avoid unnecessary plastic. Public fountains are found in parks, squares, stations, visitor areas and near busy walking routes, but availability and condition can change. Inspect the outlet and follow any local notice before drinking.

Other ways to refill for free

The free Refill app includes participating cafes, shops and organisations as well as public fountains. Ask before filling your bottle and be considerate when a business is busy.

Ask a café to refill your bottle

Some cafés and shops display the Refill logo in their window or provide a dedicated tap-water station. Participating locations can include branches of familiar chains such as Greggs, Costa Coffee and Pret A Manger, but arrangements vary by branch and can change.

Even when you cannot see a Refill sticker, it is worth asking politely at the counter.

Staff may be unable to help when a location is very busy or does not have a suitable customer-accessible tap, so treat a refill as a helpful favour rather than an entitlement.

The mapped public water points are intended as free facilities. A listing cannot guarantee access if a site is closed, restricted or temporarily unavailable.
Is every fountain working and safe to drink from?
No directory can guarantee the current condition of a fountain. Do not use an outlet that looks damaged, dirty or unsuitable for drinking, and always follow signs at the location.
Where does the refill-point information come from?
The locations use community-maintained OpenStreetMap data. Each result links back to OpenStreetMap so people can inspect or improve the underlying information.
What happens when I use my location?
Your browser uses your location to calculate which listed points are closest. The location is not sent to London for Cheap or stored by this tool.
