Who is responsible for your information?
London for Cheap is the data controller for personal information collected directly through this website. You can contact us about privacy or personal information through our contact page.
Website visits
Our hosting provider may process basic technical logs, such as an IP address, browser type, requested page and time of access, to deliver the website, prevent abuse and investigate technical problems. We use this information because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the website available and secure. Server logs are kept according to the hosting provider’s normal security and backup schedule.
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics also processes information about visits and website usage, including actions such as tool use, generated results, shares, newsletter form submissions and offer-link clicks. We do not include typed searches, form answers, email addresses or full referral-link query strings in these analytics events. We rely on your consent for optional analytics. Advertising storage and personalised advertising signals are disabled. Read our cookie policy for the cookies, purposes, durations and controls.
If you answer our optional content question, your browser stores whether you are visiting London, living in London or just browsing for about 90 days. The website reads that choice on your device to select more relevant links and promotions. We do not send the answer to our server or Google Analytics. You can review or change it using “Content preference” in the footer.
Interactive maps
Our location tools can load maps from MapTiler using OpenStreetMap data when you choose to show an interactive map. Your browser then connects to MapTiler, which receives technical information needed to supply the map, including your IP address, browser information and the page requesting the map. The map provider does not receive your typed searches or filter choices from us. Read the MapTiler privacy policy and OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy. You can use the complete location lists without loading a map.
Emails
If you contact us, we use the information you provide to read and reply to your message. We do this because we have a legitimate interest in answering questions, correcting information and managing the website. Do not send sensitive financial or identity information. We keep correspondence only while it remains useful or necessary, then delete it.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, you give us consent to use your email address to send the London for Cheap newsletter. Your details are sent to Mailchimp, which we use to store the subscriber list and deliver emails. Mailchimp processes this information under its privacy statement. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can withdraw consent at any time, and we keep your address until you unsubscribe or we remove it from the audience.
Event submissions
If you submit an event, we use the details to review it, check the information, prepare possible coverage and contact you if needed. We do this because we have a legitimate interest in managing free event submissions and publishing an accurate agenda.
The form is processed by Formspree under its privacy policy and protected from spam by Google reCAPTCHA. Google may process device, network and interaction information to assess whether a submission is genuine. Read Google’s privacy policy. Event information may be published, but we will not publish your contact email without permission. Submitting an event does not add you to our newsletter. We keep submissions only while they remain useful for reviewing, publishing or documenting our coverage.
Who receives information?
We share information only with services needed to operate the website, including our hosting provider, Mailchimp for newsletters, Formspree for event submissions, MapTiler for maps you choose to load, and Google for consented analytics and form security. These providers may process information outside the UK. Where required, they use recognised safeguards for international transfers, as explained in their own privacy information.
Links to other websites
Our articles link to event organisers, shops, apps and financial providers. Those websites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict how it is used, object to its use, or ask for information you supplied in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier use that was lawful.
To make a request, use our contact page. We may need enough information to confirm your identity and find the relevant records. There is normally no charge.
Complaints
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office through the ICO complaints service.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the website starts using personal information in a new way or when the services we rely on change.
