TfL fare-cap calculator

Choose the furthest zone you expect to use. We’ll show the current daily and Monday-to-Sunday pay-as-you-go caps, plus the maximum to budget for.

An estimate of your maximum eligible fare

This tool uses adult 2026 caps. It does not price individual journeys or replace TfL’s fare finder. Use the same Oyster card, contactless card, phone or watch throughout for capping to work.

How to use this TfL cap calculator

For Tube and rail travel, select the furthest zone you expect to reach. The result is a maximum, not a prediction: if you make fewer or cheaper journeys, you may pay less. For buses and trams, select the bus-only option.

The weekly amount is only relevant to travel made from Monday to Sunday with the same payment method. A stay from Wednesday to the following Tuesday crosses two capping weeks.

Important rules for getting the cap

  • Use the same contactless card, phone, watch or Oyster card for every eligible journey.
  • Touch in and out on rail services; touch in only on buses and trams.
  • Keep cards separate on the reader: a phone and physical bank card are separate payment methods.
  • Some premium services, including Heathrow Express, do not count towards normal caps.

For the full explanation, examples and exclusions, read our London daily and weekly travel caps guide. For a single route price, use TfL’s Single Fare Finder.

TfL cap questions

Does the weekly cap cover any seven days?
No. It always runs from Monday to Sunday. A seven-day Travelcard can start on another day.
Do I have to buy a daily cap?
No. TfL applies eligible pay-as-you-go caps automatically when you use the same payment method.
Will this calculate my exact fare?
No. It gives the current maximum cap for the selected zone range. Your actual fare can be lower, and individual routes or excluded services have their own rules.
