Is Trip.com always the cheapest?
No travel website wins every time. For a train, compare Trip.com with the operator’s own website. For a hotel, compare the same room, dates, meal option and cancellation policy. For flights, include luggage and seat fees.
A 4% coupon is useful only when the starting price and booking conditions are competitive. Take a minute to compare, especially for an expensive trip.
Trip.com rewards if you keep using the app
Trip.com has six membership tiers. You move through them by completing eligible bookings or reaching the required spend. Higher tiers can earn more Trip Coins and unlock extra travel benefits.
| Tier | How it is reached | Main benefits currently shown |
|---|---|---|
| Silver | 1 eligible booking | Earn Trip Coins |
| Gold | 3 eligible bookings | Earn 20% more Trip Coins |
| Platinum | 8 eligible bookings and at least US$1,000 spend | Earn 50% more, one airport lounge visit and one 1GB travel eSIM |
| Diamond | US$10,000 spend | Earn 100% more, two lounge visits, a 3GB travel eSIM and selected train refund and transfer perks |
| Diamond+ | By invitation | Earn 150% more, three lounge visits, two 3GB travel eSIMs and further travel perks |
| Black Diamond | By invitation | Earn 200% more and the largest allowance of the listed membership perks |
You do not need a high tier to use the 4% new-user train offer. The membership scheme becomes more interesting if you already book several trips through Trip.com.
What are Trip Coins worth?
Trip.com currently shows 100 Trip Coins as approximately £0.74. Coins can be used like money towards selected prepaid hotels, flights, trains, car hire, attractions and airport transfers.
Membership rules, eligible bookings and benefits can change. Check your progress in the app or read the current Trip.com Rewards information before relying on a particular perk.
Can you combine Trip.com with cashback?
Trip.com sometimes appears on cashback websites such as Rakuten. Cashback may work for returning users too, but the rate depends on the booking type and country.
Read the exclusions before clicking. A referral coupon, unlisted promo code or another browser extension may stop cashback tracking. If the welcome discount is worth more, take the guaranteed checkout saving rather than risking it for a smaller pending amount.
