What happens inside?

Artists Paula Varjack and Erin Guan build an open studio using toys, images, collections and visitors’ stories. The space changes during the week, with participatory activities alongside the installation.

The opening day begins with the artists building the Hypeshop world. Later days have separate listings and programmes, so check Love Hackney or The Labubu Effect before choosing when to visit.

Access and ages

The event is for all ages. The official listing describes the ground-floor venue as wheelchair accessible. Dalston Junction is the nearest station and has step-free access.

Is The Hypeshop free?
Yes. The installation and advertised programme are free.
Is it only about Labubu toys?
No. Labubu is the starting point for a wider look at hype objects, collections and why people become attached to them.
Do I need to visit every day?
No. It is an evolving drop-in installation. Check the daily programme if a specific activity interests you.
