A free National Trust family day pass can cover admission for two adults and up to three children, or one adult and up to four children, at a participating property. Single adults and couples can use the pass too.

The current Mirror and Reach giveaway has 35,000 digital passes available. Each pass is valid for one visit up to and including Friday 28 August 2026. Claims close at 11.45pm on Tuesday 28 July 2026, or earlier when every pass has been claimed.

How to get the free National Trust pass

Claim the pass by email

  1. Open the free-pass form.

    Use the claim button above and enter your name and email address.

  2. Choose your email preferences.

    The form offers several optional newsletters from Reach, InYourArea and the National Trust. You do not need to subscribe to claim a pass.

  3. Accept the promotion terms.

    Confirm that you have read the rules and complete the human-verification step.

  4. Check your inbox.

    If your application is successful, Reach will send an email containing your pass, barcode and redemption instructions.

  5. Save the pass before travelling.

    Download it to your phone or print the email. Mobile coverage can be unreliable at countryside properties.

What happened to the InYourArea code NTSUMMER26?

An earlier InYourArea allocation used the code NTSUMMER26 in the InYourArea app. The instructions were:

  1. Download the InYourArea app and sign in.
  2. Open More, select Redeem Your National Trust Ticket, and enter NTSUMMER26.
  3. Save the displayed pass to a digital wallet or take a screenshot.

However, the InYourArea National Trust page now says that no more passes are available from that allocation. The separate Mirror and Reach form linked above was live when we checked on 21 July and does not require the app.

Do not spend time repeatedly trying the app code if it reports that the allocation is gone. Use the live form while passes remain.

What does the family pass cover?

The pass provides standard admission for one visit for any of these groups:

  • Two adults and up to three children
  • One adult and up to four children
  • A couple
  • One adult visiting alone

For this promotion, adults are aged 18 or over and children are aged 5 to 17. Children under five normally enter National Trust properties free of charge.

It is one pass per household and the pass can only be used once. It cannot be sold, transferred, exchanged for cash or used towards National Trust membership.

Where can you use the free pass?

The pass is accepted at participating National Trust properties in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is not valid at National Trust for Scotland places.

Use the National Trust’s official free-pass map before choosing a property.

The participating list matters because not every property managed by or associated with the National Trust accepts promotional passes. Places operated by third parties, English Heritage, CADW, the National Trust for Scotland, the RHS and local authorities are generally excluded unless the specific pass terms say otherwise.

Ideas near London

The National Trust’s London collection includes places such as Ham House and Garden in Richmond and Osterley Park and House in west London. Nearby options include Claremont Landscape Garden in Esher. These are useful starting points, but check each one against the live participating-places map before travelling because inclusion and opening arrangements can change.

Costs and restrictions to check

The pass is valuable, but it does not make every part of the day free:

  • Parking is not included. Check the property’s parking charge and public-transport options.
  • Special events are not included. Paid exhibitions, tours, transport and premium admission can cost extra.
  • Some properties require advance booking. Follow the instructions in your pass email and bring both the booking confirmation and the free-pass barcode.
  • Opening times vary. Houses, gardens, cafés and car parks can operate different hours.
  • Entry remains subject to capacity. A pass does not guarantee admission if advance booking was required or the property is full.

Free National Trust pass questions

Is the pass really free?
Yes. The live Reach form does not require a purchase. The optional newsletter boxes are not required. You may still need to pay for travel, parking, food, special events or activities.
Can I use the pass more than once?
No. It is a single-use day pass for one participating National Trust property.
Do I need children to use a family pass?
No. The promotion terms say that single adults and couples can also use the pass.
Does it include National Trust for Scotland?
No. National Trust for Scotland properties are excluded from this promotion.
Can two people in one home claim separate passes?
No. The terms limit the giveaway to one family day pass per household and reject duplicate claims.
What if the InYourArea code does not work?
The InYourArea allocation is currently marked as unavailable. Try the separate Mirror and Reach claim form linked near the top of this guide while its 35,000-pass allocation remains open.
